. As of July 2013, there are more than one million applications available for Android in Play Store.As of May 2013, 48 billion apps have been installed from Google Play store and in July 2013, 50 billion apps were installed .

Research company analys estimated in the second quarter of 2009 that Android had a 2.8% share of worldwides smartphone shipments By the fourth quarter of 2010 this had grown to 33% of the market, becoming the top-selling smartphone platform, overtaking symbiyan. By the third quarter of 2011  estimated that more than half (52.5%) of the smartphone sales belonged to Android. By the third quarter of 2012 Android had a 75% share of the global smartphone market according to the research firm IDC.
